FAQs

Below are some of the questions asked most frequently by our customers. If you have a question that is not covered here, please contact us.

General Questions & Answers

Do you sell fabrics in any other colour, e.g. blue denim?

Our fabrics are sold in their natural state (base cloth), and they are sold with the intentions of customers dyeing / printing themselves and therefore the majority of fabrics are white/cream in appearance.

Can we dye fabrics and what are the minimum amounts?

We can get involved with the dyeing of fabric, the minimum amounts tend to be as follows :- 50 metres of silk, 100 metres of wool, 300 metres of cotton. Please ring our sales office on 01274 576718 and speak to Melanie Croker who will be able to get prices and lead times.

Why do coated Fabrics have to be rolled?

This is due to the coating, if the fabric is folded it causes the fabric to rub and therefore when printed it will appear patchy. Due to having to roll the fabrics this also means that they have to be sent out on our carrier service and can not be sent through the normal post.

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order value is £15.00.

Do we keep credit card details?

When on order is paid with a credit card on the web, we get confirmation from a company called WorldPay, we are able to refund monies if need be but we never see sight of the credit card details.

On the flameproof section what does NDFR and DFR mean?

NDFR means Non Durable Flame Redardent – This means the overall fabric has been treated with a substance to achieve the Flame Proofing and has to have specialist dry cleaning to keep the Flame Proofing.

DFR means Duarble Flame Redardent – This means the fabric has been woven with a specialised thread that is Flame Proofed, this fabric can be washed and still maintain the Flame Proofing.

Will any of my personal information be passed on to any other companies?

No, we don’t trade information with anyone.

Why do you ask for ‘delivery instructions’?

This is so that if your not in our carrier can perhaps leave the goods with someone else or perhaps in a garage etc, we do get charged if an attempt is made to delivery the goods and no one is in, these charges add up and it often it costs us more to delivery the goods than we have actually charged.

Do you have a shop I could visit?

We don’t have a shop, in our reception we have sample books so customers can have a look at fabrics.

Why when I choose economy service have I sometime had my fabric within a few days but it states upto 14 days delivery on the web?

How quickly we get the order out depends on how busy we are, when we are quiet, we will endeavour to get orders out as quickly as possible, but in peak times (September – December), we often have more orders than we can cope with. If a person placed an order and chose the economy delivery, we would put the order on for despatch on the 7th working day from receipt of order, if our warehouse were struggling to keep up with demands, they know that they have upto a further 3 days if necessary to get that order out, (usually 2 days with our carrier), and therefore the order should be with the customer within the 14 days, however at really busy times some orders can take longer and we would ask customers to bear with us.

What kind of shrinkage should I expect?

This depends on what is actually done with the fabric, what processes the fabric goes through, and what conditions they are done in. It is always advisable to allow between 5% - 10% for shrinkage.
