Georgette is a lightweight dull crepe fabric used for making evening wear including full length dresses, blouses, and saris. The Georgette fabric gets its name from French dress maker Georgette De La Plante who created dresses by twisting silk yarns to create a crinkly surface giving her dresses a unique look.
